Like most writers I hate talking about myself.
Sam Genever is a pen name.
I have published anthologies under other names, and worked briefly as a journalist before finally striking out as a novelist.
I've had other professions. I've worked in a chocolate factory stacking advent calendars; picked fast-moving potatoes for Morrisons; worked in a milk factory in Sussex, been a moderately successful travel writer; a student in Johannesburg and, once upon a lifetime in Earl's Court, I read tarot cards.
All this is a bourgeois way of saying I was a runaway.
